This system is a comprehensive solution for automating metalworking production. Using SolidCAM’s wide range of turning, milling, turn-milling, and electrical discharge machining strategies, a process engineer can quickly prepare the necessary set of control programs for machining a product.
SolidCAM functionality
SolidCAM’s 2.5-axis milling system
delivers high efficiency and precision for 2.5-axis milling. It supports various machining strategies for features such as contours, pockets (with islands), and grooves, as well as various holemaking methods such as drilling, countersinking, threading, and more. The system offers a wide range of 2.5-axis capabilities for analytical surface machining.
SolidCAM’s 3-axis milling
system offers a wide range of tools that can be effectively used for machining complex geometries (dies, press molds) and prismatic parts. A 3D surface or solid model is used as the geometry for 3-axis machining. The system supports various roughing and finishing strategies, such as raster machining with a specified or automatically determined raster angle, equidistant machining, projection machining, waterline machining, and more.
In addition to the 2.5- and 3-axis machining capabilities already mentioned, SolidCAM offers tools for identifying and refining areas not processed in previous passes. A database of standard process flows can be created. Once created, such a parameterized process flow can be reused multiple times, significantly reducing production preparation time, increasing the reliability of developed programs, standardizing the design of process developments, ensuring the use of only optimal machining technologies, and ensuring production is independent of human error. Control and visualization of machining processes ensures the absence of gouges.
SolidCAM Multi-Axis Machining
offers a variety of tools for creating NC programs for multi-axis machining on 4- and 5-axis machining centers. The model is positioned in a user-defined machining plane, after which the system automatically calculates all necessary offset and rotation parameters for the part’s zero point. As a result, pre-processing time is significantly reduced and machining accuracy is increased.
SolidCAM offers a wide range of features for automating the creation of NC programs for turning and
turn-milling operations. SolidCAM supports various tool types, enabling efficient longitudinal turning, facing, grooving, and other machining. SolidCAM also enables automatic roughing and finishing of complex contours. Rotating tool support enables milling and drilling operations on machining centers.
SolidCAM’s wire EDM
strategies allow for the machining of external and internal contours with constant and variable inclination angles. Four-axis machining is supported. A special algorithm prevents the material from falling off. SolidCAM provides the user with control over the physical machining parameters along the entire wire path.
