NK Productions AEQ-4000 Fusion eXtreme v1.3.1 VST3 for Windows

NK Productions AEQ-4000 Fusion eXtreme v1.3.1 is a plugin for modeling a console equalizer on Windows. It offers four measurable equalizer styles with analog character for each channel.

Modeled on a classic mixing console, the four EQ styles, two sliders, and individual left and right channel character are all measured and rebuilt.

Console Channel Measured

The AEQ-4000 Fusion eXtreme is modeled after a classic mixing console equalizer. Each frequency range, gain law, and Q factor were measured using the hardware and reconstructed, including the individual differences between the left and right channels. The EQ curves match those measured by the hardware within 0.44 dB RMS.

Presets That Work as Intended

A preset assumes that the signal is fed to the device reference level. If you feed a signal from a quieter source, the modeled stage will be less loaded, so the tone and harmonics the preset is built on will not be evident. The usual solution of adjusting the input level deprives you of the only control that determines how much the analog stage is loaded.

Reference Level Calibration

Reference level calibration allows you to separate these two parameters. Enable Ref Cal, the third state of the Unity button, and run Auto Input. The measured correction is stored internally rather than written to Input Trim. The knob does not move, the value used is displayed on the button, and since calibration is not a plugin parameter, it cannot be included in a preset. If you exit Ref Cal mode, the calibration will not be applied, but the value will be saved. Re-entering the mode will restore the calibration without re-measuring.
