“Korea. The IL-2 Game Series” is dedicated to a turning point in aviation history—the time when jet engines forever changed the skies. In the Korean War, piston-engine aircraft of the bygone era engaged in combat with the first jet fighters.
A gigantic combat map, faithfully recreated aircraft, and a well-thought-out balance of simulation and accessibility will allow you to experience every moment of aerial combat.
Become an ace fighting in legendary aircraft, or rise to the ranks of a regiment commander. Lead squadrons, plot a course on the battle map, and issue orders to change the course of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from an ordinary pilot to a strategist deciding the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full support for playing with a gamepad has been implemented.
Korean War aircraft are recreated using actual drawings, historical photographs, pilot manuals, and other archival materials. Eight combat aircraft are at your disposal.
(*Please note that the La-11 and F-84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe Editions or as a separate add-on)
Every instrument in the cockpit is operational and displays the status of the aircraft’s systems in real time. Aiming and firing must be done just as pilots did 75 years ago.
The game takes place on the largest map in the series’ history, covering over 200,000 square kilometers. Korea’s territory has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical changes to the landscape, including drained straits and altered coastlines, have been taken into account.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, as well as strategic facilities such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.
In Career mode, take on the role of an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing logistics.
It’s up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic objectives. The regiment commander will be responsible for maintaining combat readiness, planning operations, and strengthening units.
Korea features a detailed damage model for aircraft and ground targets. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, are damaged based on the nature of the impact.
Each object reacts realistically to collisions, falls, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and impact location, which directly impacts vehicle behavior and the outcome of the battle.
The new mode allows you to explore every model of air, land, and naval aircraft in detail. Explore the models, learn about their history and combat use, explore the cockpits, and compare their performance characteristics, including altitude charts.
This private museum, open at any time, is a real find for anyone interested in aviation and military history.
For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
The animations of the pilots, soldiers, and civilians were created using motion capture technology (MOCAP). This ensures that the characters’ movements appear natural and believable.
Everything is ready for full immersion:
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility. The game features detailed system control, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can immediately take off and join the battle.
Hardware support. From gamepads to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.
